Planning/Making of

                                                    PLANNING

I have tried a few different names like shattered glass, smashing pumpkins but I decided to go with lockdown for my magazine then I tried a few fonts for my masthead and decided to use the first one. Its more impactful and strong which is perfect for the strong rebel attitude

Then I made a mock layout for my magazine.

My band I will be using for the magazine is a band I have constructed called through the looking glass and their selling point is they are based around Alice and wonderland by Lewis Carroll. so I made a collage to give me ideas for the magazine.

Each member in the bands persona will be based on a character from the book :

the mad hatter, Alice, the white rabbit , the Cheshire cat and the red queen

this will be done by make up and costumes , I wrote each characters details with a few comments to the people who will be the characters on a Facebook page I made too talk about the details of when I need them.

I had a look around for some sets and decided to go for a garden and a room for two different pictures

I took a couple of pictures for some ideas for the pictures I made a table look like the mad hatters tea party. so I could get an idea of what the Tea party scene for some of my pictures would look like

I also got a some pictures of some of the props I am planning to use in the actual shoot.

I did a practise shoots day where I got my band and put them in costume to see how it looked, tried some make up ideas.

This is a top hat I might use for the mad hatters outfit I might use a plain black one instead as it might fit better.

I did a range of shoots for each character as well as getting some pictures of their make up, costumes and positioning of the band with their backdrops.

For my Alice character  I needed dark eyes and a blue dress too match the actual character I liked the mid shot of her with the cards in front of her face and was thinking about using a similar shot in the real thing. But I am going to get her to wear a dress that sticks out more on the skirt.

For the red queen I needed the signature red heart lips in order to link the member in the band with the character. I also tried out some different costumes and have decided to go with the tartan skirt as it makes it more realistic.

For the Cheshire cat I needed to try out the smile as I wasn't sure how it would turn out, the white teeth worked well but I need to get a darker black face paint in order to get the full effect.

The white rabbit shots worked well but instead of a watch I will use a pocket watch.

For the mad hatter I had to get the fake white face effect so I used white face paint but for the actual thing I am going to do more blusher and more eye make up.

(When I later had to change my plans I did another two photo shoots)

The first was my front cover shoot with Sam.

And one for my contents page with Sam, Sophie and Adam.

I tried some different album covers for my band that I could include in my magazine.

Before making my music magazine I had to downscale slightly I used images of a few friends and changed my ideas but its still loosely based on the original ideas. The main band Through The Looking Glass is shown less but is still based on Alice and wonderland.

                                                             MAKING OF MAGAZINE

All of my editing for pictures was done on pixlr, this website is easy to navigate and use.

I used images of Abbi for the majority of the pictures she was the lead for the Through The Looking Glass shoot.

and Sam, Adam and Sophie for the others

For my fonts I used fonts from Microsoft, pixlr and dafont.com
